Music Opportunities

The First United Methodist Church is recognized for its excellence in music, with a variety of opportunities for adults to use their gifts to praise God. The following are just a few of the ways congregants may share their musical talents.

The Chancel Choir is the primary vocal music ministry for adults and youth, leading the 10:45 am worship service in song and music, accompanied by one of the area's finest pipe organs. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. The Chancel Choir Director is Sherry Printz.

The Hand Bell Choir is another musical ministry that has become a tradition at the Church. Adult hand bell choir practices in the Sanctuary on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm. The bell choir plays regularly during the 10:45 am worship service on Sunday mornings. The Bell Choir Director is Barb Metcalf

Special Music is part of the summer 10:45am worship services, and in both services throughout the year. At FUMC, we recognize the need to identify God's bountiful gifts and to offer opportunities for individuals to share those gifts within the faith community. If you have a musical blessing that you would like to share, please contact the church office. We have a place for you!

The Connection Praise Band forms the heart of the 9:30 am worship and praise service. Composed of a core group of instruments including guitar, piano, bass, and drums, the Praise Band is also a musically adventurous group, and often incorporates strings, brass, and the occasional glockenspiel. From bluegrass, to classic praise, to rock, the melodic offerings give the 9:30 am service a welcoming tone to all who attend.
